Axia Electric, a Shimmick Company, delivered comprehensive electrical construction services for the Miramar Clearwell Improvements Project at the Miramar Water Treatment Plant in San Diego, CA. The team installed a new electrical building to support power distribution for major facility upgrades, including two 29.5-million-gallon seismic clearwells and a dual-train chlorine contact chamber.
Axia’s scope also included electrical systems for the new 215-MGD low-lift pump station, providing power and controls for four 37,000-GPM axial lineshaft pumps. Additional work involved integrating building automation, lighting, and security systems within the new maintenance and guard house structures. The team completed full commissioning of the latest electrical building and all related systems to ensure reliable and efficient plant operation.
To enhance the facility’s renewable energy capacity, Axia installed a 1 MW photovoltaic system, which included conduit runs, inverters, combiner boxes, and a system tie-in to the plant’s electrical grid.
