Miramar Reservoir Pump Station Improvements

Axia Electric, a Shimmick Company, provided comprehensive electrical services for critical upgrades at the Miramar Reservoir Pump Station and Miramar Water Treatment Plant in San Diego, CA. At the pump station, Axia’s scope included electrical improvements to support the rehabilitation of six 200-horsepower pumps, replacement of the existing emergency generator, and electrical upgrades associated with pump assessments, potential discharge pipeline rehabilitation, and HVAC system improvements. Additional work included the installation of power and controls for the new site infrastructure and integration with existing systems.

At the treatment plant, Axia installed Phase 2 of a commercial roof-mounted photovoltaic power system on Clearwell 1. This phase added 1.24 MW-AC to the existing array, bringing the total system capacity to over 2 MW-AC. Axia was responsible for all electrical installations associated with the photovoltaic panels, including conduit runs, inverters, combiner boxes, and system tie-ins.
