P2-122 Headworks Modifications at Plant 2

Axia Electric, a Shimmick Company, provided electrical installation, testing, and commissioning services for the P2-122 Headworks Modifications project at Orange County Sanitation District’s Plant No. 2 in Huntington Beach, CA. Electrical work supported the separation of the existing headworks into two independent treatment systems, which can be recombined as needed to meet operational objectives.

Axia’s scope included powering three new main sewage pumps, integrating upgrades to the wet healthy vortex suppression system, and installing electrical and controls infrastructure for the new 72-inch FRP diversion pipeline, 24-inch HDPE recirculation pipeline, and grit removal systems. The team also delivered control upgrades and instrumentation to enable the precise management of process flows, while supporting critical system redundancy and ensuring continuous plant operation throughout construction.
