Axia Electric, a Shimmick Company, delivered electrical improvements for the West Concourse at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), refeeding Gate 123 with new power and upgrading aging infrastructure. The scope included removing 4160V transformers, cutting over to the existing service, and reconfiguring the existing switchgear to utilize new 480V gear. Axia installed conduit, switchgear, welded supports, and Bus Duct across the roof of the gate, navigating live pull boxes, maintenance holes, and existing conduits to complete cable pulls and terminations. Thanks to the highly secure environment of LAX, Axia completed the project on an accelerated schedule, performing all work without impacting the finished ceiling below.
