Pure Water Oceanside Advanced Water Purification System

Axia Electric, a Shimmick Company, performed electrical and control work for the Pure Water Oceanside Advanced Water Purification Facility—the first operational advanced water purification project in San Diego County. Axia supported the installation of critical process systems within the new AWPF process building, including ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet light advanced oxidation, stabilization, and the product water pump station. Electrical work also powered the nitrification-denitrification (NDN) facilities, Plant 2 blower improvements, and new chemical storage and feed systems.

Additional responsibilities included integrating instrumentation and controls for the process feed tank, strainers, and RO concentrate pipeline connection, as well as providing support for the waste equalization wet well and its associated pump station. Axia’s work ensured the reliable performance of treatment systems and contributed to the facility’s ability to deliver up to 4.5 MGD of advanced purified water, with future expansion capacity to 6.0 MGD.
