Robert Goldsworthy Desalter Expansion

Axia Electric, a Shimmick Company, delivered electrical and controls upgrades for the Robert Goldsworthy Desalter Expansion project, supporting the facility’s enhanced reverse osmosis capabilities. The scope included the installation of new variable frequency drives (VFDs) to operate the RO feed pumps, well pumps, and treated water pumps. Axia also modernized the instrumentation and control system by utilizing Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs, implementing updated programming and control strategies to manage both new and existing RO trains, flow-paced chemical feed systems, and the treated water pump station. Integrated instrumentation enabled the detailed analysis of influent raw water, RO concentrate, permeate, and final treated water. Additional electrical improvements supported upgrades to the clean-in-place system and brought the fire sprinkler system up to current code requirements.
